The VgVK Wien, together with the ARMORED COMBAT AUSTRIA and the SAFE Federation, invites you to the 5. Soft Armored Fighting European Championship.

From May 1 to 3, 2026, around 200 athletes from up to 15 countries will compete in various soft sword competitions in age groups from 4 to 99 years at the Sporthalle Simmering, 1110 Vienna.

Entry Fees for Athletes

EUR 15.00 per person (ages 18 and above)
EUR 7.50 per person (under 18)

Competition Equipment

For the European Championship, standardized SAF equipment according to the international regulations of the SAFE Federation will be used. Soft-Sword equipment (swords, sabers, shields, and bucklers) will be provided to the athletes.

Helmets, gloves, and all other necessary sports and protective gear must be brought by the participants themselves. 

Eligible athletes must be from SAFEF member countries (official or friendly).

National federations are responsible for selecting and registering their teams for the European Championship (e.g., Austria: Armored Combat Austria, France: FFSAF, etc.).

Starting Places

The number of starting places for 2026 is limited to 200 (compared to 150 in Champeix 2025). Allocation will be on a first-come, first-served basis.

Registration

Online registration for international athletes and coaches is expected to open on Monday, February 2, 2026. On Monday, March 2, 2026, online registration will open for Austrian participants.

The registration deadline is Sunday, March 15, 2026.

Lunch Catering

As part of the online registration, athletes and coaches will have the option to pre-order lunch packages – available in vegetarian or non-vegetarian versions – for an additional fee. Exact prices and contents will be announced in due course.
