About the VgVK Vienna
Founded in 2011 as Austria’s first sports club dedicated to Medieval Combat, VgVK Vienna combines grassroots participation, competitive sports, and international tournament success. Whether you are a recreational athlete or aiming for elite competition – everyone with a passion for sports can find their place with us.
What is Medieval Combat?
Medieval Combat is a modern, rules-based combat sport that blends the fascination of European medieval history with technique, fitness, and teamwork. VgVK Vienna specializes in the disciplines of Soft Armored Fighting and Buhurt.
Training
Since 2011, VgVK Vienna has been offering weekly Soft-Sword training sessions at three locations across Vienna – affordable, safe, and suitable for all fitness levels. A free trial session is available at any time. Equipment is provided; all you need are indoor sports shoes and comfortable workout clothes.
Projects
VgVK Vienna brings Medieval Combat to schools, parks, and international networks – from Bewegt im Park to Erasmus+ mobility projects. Our initiatives promote exercise, teamwork, and inclusion.
